About Us

Mission: Board-house Kitchen is a community-led social enterprise dedicated to building a stronger, more connected, and food-secure community. We use food as a powerful tool to tackle social isolation, reduce food waste, and provide pathways to skills and well-being.

What We Do:

Our work is built on three interconnected pillars:

1. Community Meals & Food Security: We run accessible, pay-what-you-can community cafés and provide nutritious, low-cost meal kits. We source surplus food from local suppliers, ensuring good food is saved from waste and reaches those who need it most, in a dignified and welcoming environment.

2. Skills & Social Connection: We are more than a kitchen; we are a community hub. We offer volunteer opportunities, cooking skills workshops, and nutritional education programs. Our projects are designed to reduce loneliness, build confidence, and foster meaningful connections between people of all ages and backgrounds.

3. Catering with a Conscience: Our professional catering service—for local events, businesses, and functions—is the engine that fuels our social mission. Profits from this venture are reinvested directly into our community programs, creating a sustainable model for social change.

Our Impact:

We measure our success not just in meals served, but in lives changed: through new friendships formed, skills gained, confidence built, and the creation of a more resilient and inclusive community where everyone has a place at the table.

Legal & Ethos: As a Community Interest Company (CIC), our legal commitment is to benefit our community, not private shareholders. Every plate we serve and every workshop we run is a step toward our vision of a vibrant, nourished, and inclusive community for all.
